What kind of material is XPE foam

XPE (Cross-Linked Polyethylene Foam) is a high-performance closed-cell foam material, which is made from low-density polyethylene (LDPE) through chemical or physical cross-linking process. It is made of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) as the main raw material through chemical cross-linking or physical cross-linking process.XPE foam is widely used in the fields of packaging, construction, automobile, electronics, sports equipment and so on because of its excellent physical properties, chemical stability and environmental protection characteristics.

The main features of XPE foam

  1. Physical properties
    1. Light weight and high strength: XPE foam has low density, light weight, but has good compressive strength and resilience.
    2. Closed cell structure: the internal structure consists of countless independent closed cell, with excellent waterproof and moisture-proof performance. c) Thermal insulation: closed cell structure, with good compressive strength and resilience.
    3. Thermal insulation: the closed-cell structure effectively blocks heat transfer, which provides excellent thermal insulation and heat preservation performance.
    4. Sound insulation and vibration damping: able to absorb sound waves and vibration energy, with good sound insulation and buffer effect.
  2. Chemical Performance
    1. Corrosion resistance: It has strong resistance to most acids, alkalis and salts.
    2. Aging resistance: after adding antioxidant, XPE foam is not easy to be aged in long-term use and has a long service life.
    3. Non-toxic and environmental protection: it does not contain halogen, heavy metals and other harmful substances, in line with environmental requirements.
  3. Processing performance
    1. Easy to cut and mold: XPE foam has soft texture, easy to cut, stamping and thermoforming.
    2. Strong bonding: it can be compounded with other materials (e.g. aluminum foil, fabric) to enhance functionality.

Application areas of XPE foam

  1. Packaging industry: Due to its excellent buffer performance, XPE foam is often used in the packaging protection of fragile items such as electronic products, precision instruments and glass products.
  2. Construction industry
    1. Thermal insulation: Used as the thermal insulation layer of walls, roofs and floors to enhance the energy-saving effect of the building.
    2. Waterproof and moisture-proof: used as moisture-proof material for basements, bathrooms and other humid environments.
  3. Automobile industry
    1. Sound insulation and vibration damping: used in automobile interiors, floors and roofs to reduce noise and vibration.
    2. Sealing and protection: used in sealing strips of doors and windows to improve the airtightness and waterproofness of vehicles.
  4. Sports equipment
    1. Padding for protective gear: Used for the lining of sports knee pads, elbow pads, helmets and other products to provide comfortable cushioning protection.
    2. Yoga mat: It is widely used to make yoga mats and fitness mats due to its softness and non-slip properties.
  5. Other fields
    1. Medical supplies: such as mattresses and cushions, providing comfortable support.
    2. Cold chain logistics: Used as heat insulation material for refrigerator and heat preservation box to maintain low temperature environment.
